Please note: Students and temporary employees are not eligible to participate in the K+S-sponsored Registered Pension Program RPP.

Registered Pension Program (RPP)

How much does K+S contribute to my Pension?

K+S Potash Canada provides 6% of your Total Compensation (base pay + short term incentive payment) toward your Pension. After you start with K+S, you will be able to access your account online through the Manulife VIP Room. The VIP room allows you access to easily manage your savings and you will also be able to see your savings grow online each pay period! You will have access to the online VIP Room a few weeks after your enrolment forms have been processed through Manulife.

How much should I contribute?

There is no required matching allocation by the employee for the RPP. However, employees may elect any amount of contributions (subject to personal CRA restrictions) into a Manulife Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) or Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA). We encourage employees to plan for their future.

If you would like to make a personal contribution to an RRSP or TFSA, speak to your HR Business Partner who can provide you with access to the forms. Employees may make these contributions at any time.

I have pension investments from my previous employer. What can I do?

You can transfer funds to your Manulife group plan from any other savings and retirement plan you own. To transfer registered assets, simply call 1-800-242-1704 and a Group Savings & Retirement representative will be happy to assist you.

What if I want to change my contributions?

Your 6% employer-sponsored RPP contributions will not change. However, if you would like to make elected contributions or adjustments (increase, decrease, stop) to your RSP or TFSA please speak to your HR Business Partner or Payroll Advisor directly. These changes must be made through payroll.

What happens if I receive a salary increase?

Your RPP contributions will increase as your base salary increases. If you’ve selected to contribute to an RRSP account that is based on a percentage of your income, this will automatically adjust as well. If you have enrolled in a TFSA, you simply have a flat amount deducted from your payroll. This will not be affected by a salary increase. If you want to increase your TFSA contributions, you must discuss with your HR Business Partner or Payroll Advisor.

Optional enrollment forms for RRSP, Spousal RRSP, and TFSA are located under the New Employee Forms tab. There will also be forms available on your first day during your HR Orientation and these can also be provided at anytime by contacting a member of HR team.
