Your first day at K+S Potash Canada will be spent with Health & Safety, IT, Human Resources, and your department. It is our goal to help you feel settled in with the company, your department and position.
Time to Arrive
Please arrive on your first day for 6:45AM. You will be provided with your specific instructions in your Welcome email from one of our HR Representatives.
Where to Report
Please park in the Employee/Visitor Parking Lot and proceed to the Administration building to check in with Security.
What to Wear
At the Bethune Operations, K+S Potash Canada promotes a relaxed and casual atmosphere while working in the Administrative and Operations Buildings. PPE
All required PPE, with the exception of work boots, will be supplied by K+S Potash Canada to the appropriate employees. This includes; ANSI/CSA Type 1 Class E Safety Hard hat, Hearing Protection, CSA approved safety glasses W/ Permanent Side Shields, Class 2 High Visibility Vest or Class 2 Long Sleeve Jacket, Full Length Pants or Coveralls). There are no PPE free zones on site outside of the Administration and Operations building. You will be fitted for your PPE on your first day of employment.

Custom Hearing Protection
KSPC provides the option to have Custom Hearing Protection made upon consultation with the on-site Occupational Health Nurse.
Work Boots
If required, please come prepared with your work boots on your first day. Works boots must be Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Class 1 approved (green triangle and electric shock rated), with ankle support. KSPC will provide an annual payment of $250.00 dollars for employees requiring work boots on a day to day basis to ensure PPE is in good working order. Employees not requiring work boots daily, will receive a payment of $250.00 dollars every three years.
Prescription Safety Glasses
KSPC has partnered with the Saskatchewan Association of Optometrists’ EYESAFE Program. If you require prescription safety glasses, please ask your supervisor, or a representative from Health & Safety. Click here, for the appropriate form, fill it out and have your supervisor sign off. You will need to bring the completed form to one of the facilities listed and your glasses will get direct billed back to KSPC.
First Day Schedule
Morning - Security Sign-in & ID Badge, HSSE, IT, & HR Orientation, PPE & Lockers
Lunch - Please bring your lunch for your first day. Important - The mine does not have a staffed kitchen nor a canteen, please bring all food & beverage you may require for the day. There are kitchens with multiple fridge’s to store food & beverage in if needed.
Afternoon - Human Resources Orientation and Department Specific Orientation
Shuttle Bus Option (for after your first day)
Due to gravel road travel, Bethune mine employees commuting from Moose Jaw have the option to utilize the shuttle bus. The shuttle bus schedule is aligned with K+S work schedules and employees are to ensure they know which bus schedule to take. Employees are also responsible to understand follow the shuttle bus etiquette:
Bags should be stored either in the overhead storage or directly in front of you (but not beside you so that there is room for everyone on the bus).
Respect the specific guidelines for the parking lot designated for your bus location.

Gravel Road Allowance
KSPC recognizes the personal cost, impact of our commute and traveling on approved routes that are gravel roads for Bethune employees. A gravel road allowance will be offered to employees living outside of the shuttle service pick-up locations or excluded from initial service. See the attached Guideline for more information.
